One of Nancy’s passions include volunteering and helping those unable to help themselves. She began working with the Hoi An Foundation in 2007, a charity started by a compassionate American trained MD named Josh Solomon. Their goal was to reach out to the community to those who had limited or no access to quality health care. By the end of 2008, they succeeded in starting a program where healthcare providers in the local clinics were being trained by international doctors and nurses in the treatment of chronic disease. Sustainable change is the most important aspect for this charity and its goals. The Hoi An Foundationhas continued to grow and is now working with several other organizations in central Viet Nam, including the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Viet Nam Ministry of Health. The foundation’s focus of sustainable health care improvement in the treatment of chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, also includes pediatric HIV and heart diseases. Nancy continues to work with the Hoi An Foundation from the US and travels to Viet Nam as frequently as her schedule permits.
